Sports injuries
History: Patient presented with pain in left ankle while walking after an injury while playing football. There was swelling and tenderness present over the ankle region. Patient was diagnosed with partial tear of ATFL injury.
Treatment: Patient was treated for pain management using TENS, LASER, PEMF and kinesio taping techniques. Strength conditioning program included treadmill walking on toes, TRX, theraband and theratube exercises for lower limbs and self stretching. Patient’s pain had reduced to zero at the end of 15 session at Dr. Ketan Bhatikar’s SPARC Rajagiri Victor Hospital and was able to run on treadmill at a speed of 6 km/hr.
History: The patient had a fall while dancing after which she went for MRI, surgeon reffered her for surgery as she had ACL and meniscus tear but she came to sparc for the complaint of severe pain and limping.
Treatment: The above mentioned patient was treated with advanced strength training followed with aquatic therapy, taping technique and laser therapy. With successful completion of 45 sessions at sparc rajagiri and sparc ponda centre the patient is able to walk normally without any pain and restriction.
History– Patient gave history of fall on shoulder during practice match. He complained of severe pain so was investigated and diagnosed for rotator cuff tear. He was operated for the same. He came to SPARC due to pain in the shoulder and limited shoulder movements.
Treatment: The above mention patient was treated with LAZER therapy, IFT, wall pushes, bar holding exercises, shoulder mobilization, Theraband strengthening exercises and AQUA therapy. After taking treatment of 18 sessions patient’s shoulder ranges were painfree and complete.
History– patient was having complains of pain and instability in shoulder.He was diagnosed with subluxation of the GH joint. He came to SPARC for further management.
Treatment: Patient was treated with Laser therapy, IFT, wall slides, planks, bobath ball press, free ROM exercises of Shoulder joint, Kinesio taping. After completing 28 sessions at SPARC now he does doing all the exercises without pain and still continues to come for strength and condition of the shoulder joint muscles.
History– Patient sustained injury during volley ball game and gives history of immediate swelling. On evaluation-medial joint line tenderness, limping gait, flexion end range pain were present.
Treatment: He was treated for 30 days with laser therapy, IFT, aquatherapy, TRX exercises, PEMF, gait training, intrinsic knee strengthening. The patient is able to do his activities with no difficulties on completion of the rehabilitation program.
History – Patient sustained injury during workout in the gym. On evaluation he presented withcore muscle weakness, muscle imbalance, hypomobility, tightness of the thoraco-lumbar region and tenderness at the right si joint.
Treatment: Patient completed 20 sessions of aqua therapy, PEMF, laser therapy, core strengthening exercises, spinal mobility exercises , spinal mobilization, lower limb stretching exercises and has now successfully recovered from his symptoms and has resumed training at the gym.
History– patient complained of pain in shoulder since 3 mnths after lifting weight during his training session. He went to local doctor for medication but did not relief so came to SPARC for further management.
Treatment: patient was treated Laser therapy, IFT, wall pushes, I, Y, T strengthening of shoulder, theratube exercises, TRX chest fly, kinesio taping and aqua therapy.

History: The above mentioned patient is a National level badminton player. He had come to sparc for overall strength training and for pre match training for upcoming tournaments.
Treatment: The above mentioned patient was treated with advanced sports strength conditioning program which included 30 min of aquatic therapy sessions ,core strengthening sessions, Tactile resistance exercise training program (TRX), and advanced resistance exercise program. After successful completion of 45 days sessions at Rajagiri sparc centre the player performed at optimum level and scored first rank in the tournament.
History: patient complains of pain in the upper back region with tenderness in between the shoulder blades and aggravation of symptoms on prolonged activity. Patient also complained of heaviness in both arms with occasional numbness in hands.
Treatment: Postural re-education, Soft tissue release of interscapular muscles, cryo application, thoracic spine mobilization and scapular muscles flexibility and strengthening. On completion of 10 treatment sessions patient reported complete resolution of symptoms.
History: Patient presented with severe pain while performing shoulder movements and had difficulty in carrying out daily activities.
Treatment: Patient underwent complete rehabilitation at Dr. Ketan Bhatikar’s SPARC Rajagiri Victor Hospital firstly, focusing on pain management through LASER therapy, PEMF therapy, TENS and muscle spasm release techniques. The protocol was followed with strength and conditioning program including resistant bands , tubes and medicine ball.Patient’s pain had reduced completely and shoulder movements were normalized.
History: Patient presented with pain in the left knee while walking and stair climbing since 2 years.
Treatment: Patient treatment protocol started with pain management using PEMF therapy, LASER therapy and Muscle release techniques with edge mobility tool. Strength conditioning program started with bobath ball press, theraband exercises, theratube and squats. By the end of 20 sessions patient’s pain had reduced pain and could do stair climbing without pain.
History: Patient presented with pain in the lower back region radiating to right knee sine 4 years. Patient complained of sleeplessness due to pain and was diagnosed with L4,L5 and S1 disc prolapse. After necessary investigations at Dr. Ketan Bhatikar’s SPARC Rajagiri Victor Hospital patient was also diagnosed with early changed of arthritis with reduced space in right knee.
Treatment: Patient was treated for the same with TENS, PEMF therapy, LASER therapy, muscle release techniques with edge mobility tool , kinesio taping , mulligan mobilization. Strength and conditioning program for core and lower limbs was carried out with resistant bands , tubes, medicine ball, and self stretching. At the end of 20 session there was increased space which was visible on x-ray and pain had reduced to 80 percent with no pain at night times.
History: Patient is case of bilateral Total knee replacement since 1 year. Patient came to Dr. Ketan Bhatikar’s SPARC Rajagiri Victor Hospital with pain and tenderness over suture site of right knee and was unable to climb stairs without support.
Treatment: Patient underwent physiotherapy rehabilitation which included strength training program with resistant bands, tubes bobath ball press and pain relieving modalities TENS, PEMF therapy, LASER therapy. At the end of 20 sessions patient was able to climb stairs independently.
History: Patient is a case of frozen shoulder since 6 months. Patient presented with severe pain on shoulder movements including flexion, abduction and external rotation. Patient also complained of severe pain at night making her difficult to get proper sleep.
Treatment: Patient then came to Dr. Ketan Bhatikar’s SPARC Rajagiri Victor Hospital where necessary assessment was taken and treatment started. Physiotherapy rehabilitation included pain management with TENS, PEMF therapy, LASER therapy, Mullingan mobilization techniques, kinesio taping and muscle release techniques. Within 10 sessions complete pain free range was achieved and then patient was started with strength training program with resistant bands, tubes, medicine ball, and wall exercises.
History: Patient is a known case Low back pain since 7 years for which patient underwent steroid injection but did not find any relief. Patient presented with severe pain in low back region radiating till left ankle and inability to walk and was walking with a limp.
Treatment:Patient underwent physiotherapy rehabilitation for pain management includingTENS, PEMF therapy, LASER therapy, cryotherapy, mobilisation techniques, kinesio taping and muscle release techniques. The treatment was followed with bobath ball pressing , strength training for bilateral lower limbs and core muscles . Gait training was also done. Patients pain had reduced and walking pattern was also improved by the end of one month session.
History: Patient came to sparc with restriction in range of motion in shoulder. Three years back patient had a surgery for head of humerus fracture after that she got that stiffness.
Treatment: Above mentioned patient was treated with shoulder mobilization techniques strength training program edge tool mobilization for soft tissue release with PEMF and laser therapy. With successful completion of 30 sessions at sparc rajagiri centre the patient achieved full range without any restriction or pain
History: patient gave history of weight lifting followed by sudden onset of pain in the low back region. On examination patient was unable to bend forward and presented with paraspinal muscle spasm.
Treatment: patient underwent 20 treatment sessions that consisted of lower limb strengthening , core strengthening and PNF stretching. On completion of sessions patient had complete relief from pain and attained full range of movement.
History: Patient sustained neck of humerus fracture which was surgically managed by ORIF followed by 3 weeks immobilisation. Following immobilisation he developed shoulder stiffness and weakness of muscles of the shoulder girdle.
Treatment: At Sparc he took 30 sessions of rehabilitation inclusive of theraband exercises, TRX exercises and aqua therapy. Post treatment patient showed significant improvement in range of motion and complete resolution of symptoms.
History – patient sustained injury at workplace with swelling at the knee on evaluation anterior drawers test was positive and limping was present
Summary–patient was treated for 40 days with laser therapy,Pemf, treadmill walking on toes,aquatherapy,quadriceps strengthening exercises. Now patient able to do his ADLs with no difficulties.
